It is the seventh film in the Mission: Impossible film series and the first of two films to conclude the Ethan Hunt saga. The film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who also directed the previous two Mission: Impossible films. Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, and he joins a returning cast that includes Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Vanessa Kirby and Henry Charney. Newcomers to the cast include Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales and Cary Elwes.
