Method for Preparing TNEA 2023 Rank List

The Directorate of Technical Education (DoTE) follows a normalization method to standardize the marks obtained by candidates in qualifying examinations from different boards for the preparation of the TNEA 2023 Rank List. This process ensures fairness and equality among candidates from various boards in Tamil Nadu. To provide a clearer understanding, we have provided an example below that illustrates the normalization procedure.

For instance, let’s consider a student from the state board of Tamil Nadu who scores 100 marks in chemistry, and the highest marks achieved by a candidate from any other board is 90. In this case, both the highest marks are equated to 100 for normalization purposes. Now, if a student from another board scores 60 marks, with the highest mark being 90, then 60 marks are considered equivalent to 66.66 marks after normalization. This calculation is done as follows: (100 x 60)/90 = 66.66%. After the marks have been normalized, the names of eligible students are included in the TNEA 2023 Rank List.
